Welcome to the October 2012 issue of Florida Land Development News. I realize it is already November and apologize for the delay in getting this out as I have had a very hectic travel schedule the past few months.

Citing specific historical data patterns, returning writer Jack Sullivan predicts a major upturn in new housing starts. I always appreciate Jack's ability to parse data and extract meaningful information.

Bob Koch describes the traditional American dream as a drama performed in three acts, Act I beginning with our players growing up at home with their parents. The story continues through a period of independent apartment rental, and finally the dream being realized with home ownership. Today, Bob sees this pattern of behavior changing, with profound implications for the housing market. We would all be wise to listen as Bob has his finger on the pulse development trends.

Second quarter housing starts across Florida are mapped for us by Mike TimmermanBefore Mike started compiling this data for our publication I do not believe anyone else was publishing such a broad list of starts from around the state.
