A Developer's Guide on how to survive an severe economic downturn

Are we in a recession? Are we in a depression? For the developer , does it really matter? No matter what the financial analysts call it, you have to be acutely aware of all aspects of the business in order to do more than survive. After all - you want to thrive! Let's take a look at some tips that you can use in order to keep yourself above water:

  • Control your costs
  • Invest in your future
  • Stay connected with your clients (past and present)
  • Plan for challenging times (Don't put all of your eggs in 1 basket)
  • Reassess Budgets, expenses and credit terms
  • Reassess your marketing strategies
  • Be sure you have the right size staff (eliminate non-performers)
  • Do work that is second to none
  • Remember: The easiest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it back in your pocket (Save, save, save)
